Campus Police Chief
Virginia Highlands Community College is seeking a community-focused collaborative Chief of Police to lead the campus police department. The Chief will be a leader, who is energetic, focused on community engagement, understand 21st Century Policing Strategies and committed to providing a safe environment where students, faculty, and staff have a maximum opportunity to be successful in meeting their academic and professional goals.
The VHCC Police Department is a professional police department providing the same level of service offered by a municipal police department, as well as other services unique to an academic institution.
Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate or related field. Knowledge of the higher education system. Experience as a chief of police; law enforcement leadership, working in a higher education environment; knowledge of courtroom procedures and laws. Working knowledge of developing Emergency Management Plans and Continuity of Operations Plans for an institute of higher education.
