Position Responsibilities:

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine is a premier academic medical center located in the heart of Richmond. Accounting for almost half of VCU's sponsored research, the School of Medicine is internationally recognized for patient care and education.

Study Coordinator position for a grant-funded study as part of an active research lab team investigating risk factors for comorbid alcohol use disorder and suicidal behaviors. The position will be located at the Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics (VIPBG) (www.vipbg.vcu.edu). VIPBG is world-renowned for its contributions to the genetic epidemiology of behavior and psychopathology. Its faculty and affiliates represent diverse disciplines including molecular genetics, psychology, epidemiology, and statistics. The successful candidate will have access to a highly stimulating environment.
The study coordinator will report directly to, and assist, the Principal Investigator (PI) on a range of study-related tasks (administrative, supervisory, and participant contact duties as well as data cleaning and analysis). Hours are flexible based on study needs and timelines and can be done in a hybrid in-person and telework environment. The role is contingent on the availability of sponsored funding and the candidate's performance and can be renewed for up to 24 months.

Key Responsibilities:

•Implement the study questionnaires and neurocognitive tasks in an automated integrated online tool, and troubleshoot computer laboratory tasks (in collaboration with Inquisit Millisecond, and in coordination with the PI).
•Be the primary point person for all recruitment efforts for the study.
•Enroll participants and send them the online study link (email contact, possible phone call).
•Obtain and organize regulatory documents and data-sharing approvals.
•Assist with maintaining/updating laboratory protocol documents and data dictionary.
•Train and supervise research assistants on study protocol and data management.
•Manage the order and distribution of Amazon gift card for participants' compensation (coordinate with PI as needed).
•Maintain current CITI credentials for Human Subjects Protection.
•Understand and adhere to all IRB requirements and aspects of the IRB-approved protocol; maintain IRB approval and submit documents (amendments, continuing reviews) in a timely manner to IRB in collaboration with the PI.
•Process, clean, and analyze the study data.
•Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a diverse environment.

Required Qualifications:

Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in psychology or a related field.

Previous experience in a research or laboratory setting.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of clinical research management to include: regulatory, human subject protection, study conduct, and data management requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Previous experience in psychological/neuropsychological assessments, or working with neurocognitive tasks.
•Experience working with Millisecond or other data management platforms for laboratory tasks.
•Previous supervision experience or team lead experience and interest in a supervisory role, as part of the role will be the training and management of research assistants.
•Statistical experience (R is preferred) for data management, coding/scoring, and basic statistical analysis.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

•Schedule is flexible, ranging from 10 to 20 hours per week depending on study recruitment rates and requirements.
•Telework is an option and is contingent on the candidate's performance.
