Facilities Manger
he University of Virginia’s College at Wise invites applications for its Facilities Manager position, which will report to the Director of Capital Operations and Planning.
Duties include:
• Managing installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs on buildings, mechanical equipment, and utility systems,
• Directing skilled and unskilled staff in the maintenance of buildings and equipment,
• Delegating assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects,
• Recommending or initiating personnel actions,
• administering the organization's policies for the department,
• Planning and scheduling building and maintenance work, making modifications as necessary,
• Executing some budget responsibilities regarding assigned trades,
• Developing, leading, and assessing small teams with a motivational approach,
• Articulating the mission, vision, and goals of teams,
• Planning and organizing multiple priorities within projects,
• Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information in collaboration with University leaders to help improve processes,
• Fostering a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations,
• Collaborating with Architects and Engineers to best utilize licensed trade workers in building maintenance and construction.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, a Bachelors degree is preferred. Seven years of experience with at least two years of supervisory or leadership experience is required. License or certification in on or more trades is preferred.
Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs. The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
