Job Description

The Department of Surgery MU Surgical Center for Outcomes Research and Effectiveness (MUSCORE) office is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of a Research Specialist I.

The primary function of this position is to provide both laboratory and clinical research data management support for the MUSCORE team.

The individual in this position will assist in the following activities and perform the following support functions:
•Interact with human research participants.
•Assist with research data collection and entry into an electronic data capture system.
•Maintenance of internal and external data registries.
•Assist with implementing and maintaining an electronic clinical trial database for the purposes of tracking clinical trial protocols and subject participants.
•Tracking and scheduling subject participant study visits.
•Collect lab samples per protocol and process samples according to study lab manual.
•Perform research experiments using biochemical assays, molecular biology, and protein biochemistry.
•Maintain laboratory notebooks, document experiments, troubleshoot and optimize laboratory protocols.
•Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and meticulous record keeping are required.
•Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, is vital.
•Must be able to communicate in both written and verbal styles with multi-disciplinary clinical research team members.
•Position requires self-motivation and teamwork with the MUSCORE investigators, study coordinators, and research staff.
•Other duties as assigned.

Shift

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $16.72 - $29.10 hourly
Grade: GGS - 007
