Job Description

The School of Medicine's Central HR team within the Dean's Office is pleased to announce the opening of a Human Resources Specialist II.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Understands how related teams coordinate their efforts and resources to achieve objectives.
• Addresses problems based on practice and existing precedents or procedures
• Recommends solutions to problems in situations that may be atypical or infrequent
• Analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments and recommendations to supervisor/manager
• Impacts the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of the team through planning, organization, coordination, and occasional oversight
• Uses discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiency
• Process requests for changes to current Faculty and Staff HR records – including job changes, status changes, etc., as it relates to the full life cycle of an employee.
• Process requests for new vacancies – create, post, and process hiring documentation for staff.
• Process and perform duties related to the hiring and onboarding of new employees including uploading documentation into PeopleSoft HRIS software, assisting departments with the completion of onboarding steps and status of hires in progress.
• Works with other members of the SOM's Central HR team to provide back-up and support for all SOM departments by processing or providing guidance on other HR tasks and functions related to the employment cycle.
• Managing the visa process for SOM affiliated departments & visa holders
• Creates and coordinates the collection of needed documents, signatures, and payments for applications and extensions of visa status.
• Works with the International Center on J1, H1B, OPT, F1, and other visa statuses that do not involve clinical positions
• Works with outside and internal attorney teams on visa cases that are clinical in nature.

Shift

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

An associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $23.00
