Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position will include: occasional standing and/or walking with objects up to 25lbs; regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods with regular repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasional (<10% of the time) job related travel.

Shift

Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends per business needs.

Job Summary

This role directs Strategic Planning Coordinators and Sr. Strategy Consultants assigned to this functional area in support of the related strategic initiatives. While focusing on the above functional responsibilities, the Director is also expected to work very collaboratively with all members of the Enterprise Strategy office. Work directly with Clinical and Executive Leadership in managing teams through strategic problem solving, solution development, and implementation planning and tracking across a range of strategic issues. This includes facilitating alignment to the organization vision and responsibility for managing the process for approval and prioritization of enterprise strategic initiatives. Provide leadership to all strategic planning activities related to market and business development, and enterprise-level projects, including the partnerships spanning health related colleges, facilities planning and projections, and ambulatory planning. Direct the development of quantitative analyses to determine the feasibility of operational and investment decisions for market development, business development, and ambulatory strategy opportunities based on market trends, data, gaps-in-service, and other competitive opportunities, and oversee the design and development of business cases with recommendations for clinical and executive leadership. Establish and maintain relationships with service line clinical and administrative leadership, department leadership within Finance and Operations, and executive leadership as it relates to business development and community market strategies. Primary point of contact for market based claims intelligence data and information Oversee the Strategy support and advisement to the Operational Programming and Implementation team on alignment and tracking of Ambulatory, Business Development, and Market Development strategies and implementation

• Strong business acumen and ability to analyze complex issues and conduct quantitative analyses to determine the feasibility of operational and investment decisions. Ability to use data to make recommendations and plans of action to Executive and Clinical Leadership.
• Ability to draw consensus on competing interests between individuals and among groups to move strategic initiatives forward; manage and lead cross-functional teams through complex projects and tight deadlines.
• Ability to work in ambiguity and create plans of action and recommendations without significant direction from executive and clinical leadership.
• Strong project management skills and ability to drive a complex project to completion while managing a diverse team.
• Comfortable completing complex tasks and projects on a tight deadline.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance and move priorities forward while engaging key decision-makers
• Ability to develop executive-level written and oral computer presentations using complex information in a precise and graphic format.
• Self-directs and self-educates on future external impact factors; appropriately summarizes and makes recommendations to executive and clinical leadership.
• Values the importance of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues throughout the Enterprise
• Ability to supervise staff and develop others to step into future leadership positions through development plans, coaching and empowering others to take on greater responsibility.
• Support project efforts in defining scope, project plans/strategic road maps, executing and reporting to stakeholders on strategic initiatives.

Preferred Education/Experience

A Master's degree from a recognized college or university in Business Administration, Business Management, Health Administration, or business-related field is required. Seven (7) years of work experience in business development and strategic planning with demonstrated skills in analytics, data modeling, and database management is required. Experience in a complex, matrix and academic medical center environments is preferred. Key competencies include:
