WHAT YOU’LL DO: You will provide leadership to the team that processes, verifies, and corrects student’s applications for financial aid; the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form that students and parent(s) complete annually. You will also have an opportunity to:
- review and interpret federal regulations about the federal methodology used to calculate a student’s need for financial aid
- implement and provide oversight of the Return of Title IV Aid calculation (R2T4) for students who withdraw, compliance with any ISIR comment codes, V1, V4, and V5 verification requirements, and any verification changes required by the Department of Education
- counsel and advise current and prospective students and parents regarding financial aid policies, procedures, application processes, and financial aid options as needed.
- represent the Office of Student Financial Aid at outreach events, including the presentation of financial aid information at various on and off campus events
- supervise and lead a team of advisors and the records/office manager administrative services coordinator

WHAT YOU BRING:
Education, Experience and Competencies Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- At least 3 years of related experience in financial aid
- Demonstrates an level in:
- Communicating for effective relationships: the knowledge and application of the communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Accuracy and attention to detail: the understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
- Data gathering and analysis: the knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to use these to gather and analyze data for a specific or variety of needs and/or projects.
- Managing multiple tasks, resources, and project management, including a high level of autonomy, decision-making, and time organization.
- The use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understand the Institutional Need Analysis System (INAS) which data items on an ISIR can be changed and understand the EFC (estimated family contribution) levels.
- Proficient with using FSA Partner Connect as a central hub of timely information and guidance.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Experience supervising staff
- At least 4 years of related experience in financial aid
- Active involvement and leadership in local, state, or national financial aid professional associations
- NASFAA credentials not required, but desired in any of the 16 areas (especially in Verification, Return of Title IV Funds, Student Eligibility, Professional Judgement, Needs Analysis, and Application Process).
- Understand how the MAUI, FAA/CPS, COD, and NSLDS system work to process financial aid for a student.
