Executive Assistant (Full-Time)
Tazewell County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of an Executive Assistant to the Board and County Administrator. Position is responsible for providing a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative and technical tasks in the administration of the county government.
General duties include; attending meetings of the Board of Supervisors, Coal and Gas Road Improvement Advisory Committee, and Wireless Service Authority; recording and transcribing associated meeting minutes from the meetings; preparing and distributing meeting agendas; advertising public hearings and job ads; maintaining directory of Board of Supervisors' boards, commissions, committees, and authorities; preparing letters; maintaining filing systems for Board and Administrator correspondence; answering and directing calls; processing incoming and outgoing mail for the Board and Administrator; answering phone calls for the Board and Administrator; scheduling appointments for the County Administrator; and performing any other duties as assigned. Position requires a thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment; general knowledge of the organization and functions of county government; and ability to deal with the public. Must be proficient with the English language, including spelling and Grammar, have very strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, discern, comprehend, and record activities at public meetings resulting in preparation of accurate and timely meeting minutes. Must be proficient using Microsoft 7 or higher, standard word processor and spreadsheet programs and use of commercial copiers. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM Monday thru Friday. Does require attendance at evening meetings once or twice per month. The successful candidate must be able to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, and have the ability to function both independently and as a team player. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Notary and Associate's or 4-year degree preferred. The position would be a full time position with VRS retirement and health insurance benefits. Starting salary would be $36,750 +/- DOE.
