About us

Shepherd's Center Topeka is a 501 (c) (3). We are a volunteer-run interfaith-based non-profit. Our mission is to engage older adults through intellectual, physical, spiritual, and social activities to enrich their lives.

Director

The role of the director is to oversee, direct, and develop the programs of the Shepherd’s Center of Topeka (SCT) in partnership with member volunteers. In addition to promoting the Shepherd's Center, a primary responsibility is the oversight of all the committees involved in planning and implementing Adventures in Learning, our lifelong learning program, which is four months out of the year.

The director is responsible for all SCT operations, including managing office functions, recruiting and working with volunteers, guiding the work of the membership committee, publishing a member directory, building relationships with community and church sponsors, communicating with members, using technology effectively, serving Ex-Officio and supporting the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications

  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm for the mission, programs, and activities of Shepherd's Center, and build relationships with members, volunteers, sponsors, and Shepherds Centers of America.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with time and project management skills.
  • Ability to use technology to manage the SCT website, events, produce print and email newsletters, and use other data management applications.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher experience are required.
  • Passion for lifelong learning to enrich the lives of adults 55-plus.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $28,000.00 - $32,000.00 per year
