My client is seeking a Director of People Engagement and Operations. This leader plays a key leadership role on the People Team and will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer. The focus of this role is to oversee the development, maintenance, and implementation of all processes and procedures owned and facilitated by the People Team as well as partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer to cultivate and operationalize our culture and ways of working at scale.
Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
- Initiate, recommend, and implement best practices in all areas of employee relations
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
- Draft and update employee policies and procedures
- Serve as an advisor to managers and employees on employee relations issues; advise on the application and interpretation of organizational policies and procedures
- In partnership with the Chief Human Resources Officer and the organization's general counsel, support investigations into alleged violations of policies; provide advice to Leadership and supervisors on addressing the outcome of such investigations
- Manage exit interview process to ensure pertinent data is evaluated, investigated, and utilized in advancing the organization's interest in becoming an employer of choice
Operations
- In partnership with the Chief Human Resources Officer, develop OKRs for key HR, people, and organizational culture metrics to be measured and communicated regularly to the leadership team and the organization, including but not limited to employee engagement, staff attrition and retention, and recruitment metrics etc.
- Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer to lead new approaches, policies, and procedures for continual improvements in engagement and organizational efficiencies
- Devise and iterate scalable processes, documentation practices, and workflows across all People domains, including employee record-keeping, onboarding, hiring, performance evaluation, offboarding, etc.
Engagement
- Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer and other key internal stakeholders to define and create the team member experience and life cycle from recruiting, onboarding, development, engagement, retention, and offboarding
- Partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer and other key internal stakeholders, design org-wide virtual and in-person experiences that promote a culture of engagement and inclusion
- Develop and distribute org-wide surveys to collect team member input and measure team member satisfaction and engagement
- Support the Chief Human Resources Officer in developing the performance review process, promotion and overall growth philosophies
- Revamp onboarding process and curriculum and delivery to ensure new hires are welcomed into the organization and set up for success in the most effective, accessible and thoughtful way
- In partnership with the Operations and Communications Teams, draft internal communications pertaining to People and Ops activities, including organizational announcements, benefits communications, and other organizational news
Recruitment
- Develop and implement standardized, effective systems and processes for recruiting to ensure a positive and fulfilling experience for both the hiring managers and candidates throughout the entire recruitment life cycle
- Partner with hiring managers to define talent needs and to develop sourcing strategies and an interview process that enables teams to execute on organizational needs and sources and attracts talent from underrepresented groups and creates an inclusive candidate experience
Management
- Manage a small team to ensure effective operations as well as coach and support direct reports to develop his/her/their own personal leadership style and to grow skills by coordinating professional development opportunities
- Support and foster a service-mindset within the People team to ensure an excellent employee experience

Requirements:
- 10 - 15 years in a People, HR, or People Management role
- Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
- HR / Coaching certification with a recognized institution preferred
- Non-profit, social sector experience preferred
