Business Coach
The Mingo County Redevelopment Authority (MCRA) is seeking a Business Coach for its Mingo County Business Assistance Program (MCBAP). The MCBAP is funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Business Development Grant. The business coach will provide high-quality mentoring to entrepreneurs and small business owners in Mingo County by assisting clients with business plans, market feasibility, marketing, and financial management, with a particular focus on business development in the tourism sector that’s supported by the Hatfield McCoy Trails.
The business coach will work with clients one-on-one or in small groups to help them identify areas of improvement and develop action plans for achieving success. The successful candidate will have experience coaching individuals or groups, as well as experience in the business world.
Job Duties Include
- Provide direct one-on-one coaching and technical assistance to small business clients, which includes:
○ Developing business, marketing, and financial plans;
○ Providing resources and information on starting or grow businesses, registering a business, procuring funding and investment opportunities, and accessing capital;
○ Assisting businesses in the development of marketing strategies, recordkeeping systems, and other tools necessary for small businesses;
○ Guiding clients through the business loan application process, as needed;
○ Helping assess, organize and coordinate resources for entrepreneurs;
- Assessing clients’ current business practices and identifying opportunities for improvement; and
○ Recording business successes and activities in client files.
- Conducting workshops or other trainings to assist small businesses on relevant topics;
- Helping clients develop strategies for improving employee productivity, increasing sales, and boosting profits;
- Identifying opportunities for new business development;
- Recommending changes to existing business models or suggesting new business ventures based on market conditions and client needs; and
- Representing the mission of MCRA and upholding all policies and procedures as applicable.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as business administration, marketing, or finance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business development, marketing, or related field.
- Proven success in developing and executing business strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and relate to small business owners.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized with strong time-management skills.
