Ferrum College has an opening for the Coordinator of the First-Year Experience and First@Ferrum Program in the Carter Center for Academic Success. Job duties include working with the Dean of Academic Success, CCAS team members, and faculty and staff to: create and provide programming for all first-year and first-generation College students; create and implement a comprehensive yearly communication plan including the use of webpages and social media; create workshops and activities in conjunction with other departments to promote retention and success of students; recruit, train and supervise student mentors; gather data and write semester and yearly reports; and support programming of the Dean of Academic Success and CCAS team.
This is a full time, 40-hour a week on-site (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) position with occasional weekend and overtime work. A background check is required.
Minimum qualifications include: a Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education or similar field; one (1) year of full-time or two (2) years of part-time successful experience working with students in higher education; basic knowledge of computers and social media; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
