Job Summary
This Department Coordinator position at the University of New Orleans is a great career opportunity for a motivated professional. UNO offers stable employment in a positive environment with a great benefits package. Duties include:
Department and Grant Accounting
- Assist Chairs and Director with oversight of the business affairs of their department or institute.
- Manage all accounting and budgetary aspects of the general funds and grants the departments and institute.
Human Resources and Payroll Management
- Oversee all hiring for departments and institute.
- Process personnel actions for faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate students.
- Coordinate paperwork for new hires.
- Process employee visa applications and renewals.
Student Affairs and Course Management
- Under the direction of department chairs, manage the preparation of course scheduling.
- Manage room and lab assignments.
- Process scholarships throughout the academic year.
- Manage honors and student awards.
Additional Duties
- Oversee purchasing and vendor payments for the departments and institute.
- Engages with departmental customers (students, staff, faculty, and the general public) as needed providing assistance with policies and practices, and providing excellent customer service.
- Supports recruitment and retention actives throughout the year.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, finance or related field with two years' work experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree in related scientific field with four years' work experience including project based budget management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational ability with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite and other office technology.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Workday Financial and HRM.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced degree.
