Home Improvement Technicians
Community Housing Partners' Energy Solutions division is taking applications for Home Improvement Technicians to perform construction improvements on homes. Primary responsibilities include installing insulation using various insulation techniques (roll, sheeting, spray, blown, or other methods), installing new windows and doors, and sealing/repairing duct systems to increase energy efficiency. Duties also include diagnosing air and duct leakage, performing basic heating system diagnostic testing, and assessing and reporting any other necessary improvements to home's construction.
Basic Skills Needed:
• Knowledge of residential heating and cooling system components, air sealing, insulation methods, and weatherization techniques.
• Knowledge of Weatherization Assistance Program Standard Work Specifications, HVAC and other applicable building codes, and OSHA Health and Safety procedures
• Mathematics skills
• Ability to proficiently use and properly maintain tools and equipment and materials required for duties described
• Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with clients regarding scope of work
• Maintain a valid driver's license and driving record consistent with current CHP insurability guidelines
Education/Experience
• Minimum six months of experience in weatherization assistance or related work
• High School diploma or GED, with specialized vocational certification or training preferred
• Position-related training and certification, to include Retrofit Installer Technician and Lead Safe Weatherization Required.
• HVAC experience and/or certification preferred
• DHCD-required training to be completed within 6 months of being hired.
Working hours may vary with project load, but customary schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm, with a one-hour lunch break, with occasional adjusted hours of four 10-hour days. Regular attendance and punctuality is a must. Daily daytime travel is required and up to 25% overnight travel also required, as well as occasional evening and weekend hours.
