The purpose of this class is to assist the technical director in the construction and realization of designs for live performances; supervise, maintain, supply and operate the scene shop and related facilities; direct the work of student and part-time workers; maintain, troubleshoot, and supervise the operation of theatrical equipment and tools; and supervise technical rehearsals and performances, as assigned. This position requires working evenings and weekends.
Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or related field, plus minimum two (2) years of experience in technical theatre. Experience with standard scenic shop tools and construction and basic knowledge of sound boards, theatrical lighting is required. Valid driver's license with a record of less than five (5) violation points on driving record with the ability to travel to all CCBC work sites. Experience with scenic painting and theatrical rigging preferred.

- Assist the technical director in the safe operation of a theatrical facility, scene shop, equipment, and tools, in support of performing arts, community, and college events.
- Monitor supplies and materials, and source required materials, as needed.
- Oversee and direct the work of construction crews, including students and part time associates.
- Act in the Technical Director's place, especially in supervising technical rehearsals, overseeing performances, executing non-arts events in the facility, and for events taking place in alternate performance spaces.
- Under the direction of the technical director, assist with set construction, painting, supervision of workers, and related tasks to realize designs for performing arts events.
- As assigned, coordinate with college and community users to arrange technical support for non-performing arts events held in the facility.
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment and tools; arrange repairs and maintenances as needed; and source materials and replacements when needed and assigned.
- Act in the technical director's place when needed, including supervision of technical rehearsals and oversight of performances.
