Job Summary:
The Endpoint Systems Administrator in Colby Information Technology Services (ITS) is part of the team that provides software lifecycle management and advanced support for Colby's endpoint devices, including Windows and Apple desktop and portable computers, tablets, and other online peripheral devices. The administrator is responsible for proactively and responsively developing, documenting, and maintaining processes and technologies associated with operating systems and related software installation, configuration, and management. As part of the endpoint administration team, the endpoint
systems administrator also provides advanced troubleshooting and support of College-owned computers and peripherals. As a part of the enterprise services team in the office of information technology services (ITS), endpoint systems administration is dedicated to operational excellence in information technology to the Colby community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain and provide expertise in operating systems, installed software, and overall system configuration of college-owned computers.
  • Configure and maintain various systems related to endpoint management, including:
    • Software updates, patching, and security software on college-owned endpoints and help to ensure safe computing practices
    • Printing services management software and endpoint configuration
    • Campus card transaction software and point-of-sale reader/register hardware configuration
    • Digital display hardware and software technologies such as AppleTV, Roku, and Screencloud
  • Monitor, manage, track, and report on requests, incidents, and problems, working with the ITS support center and other teams to ensure issues are addressed and resolved
  • Collaborate with ITS computer deployment teams to create and maintain standardized images and or workflows for newly deployed and reissued computers
  • Partner with ITS teams to identify systemic issues relating to endpoints and find solutions to those issues
  • Create, modify, and support the documentation of procedures and processes as they relate to the work of endpoint administration
  • Maintain peer relationships and awareness of industry standards in endpoint systems management
  • As a part of ITS, consistently work toward strategic goals and initiatives to provide forward-thinking and innovative solutions while achieving operational excellence
  • Perform additional duties within information technology services as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities in this position may change over time to meet the needs of the College
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in education and experience is required
  • Three years of information technology support experience is required; experience working in a technical consulting capacity and previous team collaboration is desired
  • Experience troubleshooting operating system problems, researching through vendor and user group documents to determine best practice solutions, and implementing and verifying effective repairs is desired
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting network connectivity, printer configuration and Windows domain architecture in support of computers and endpoint devices is desired
  • Experience creating and maintaining standardized images for newly deployed and reissued computers using deployment software platforms. Experience with Microsoft SCCM, MECM, or InTune as well as Jamf for MacOS is desired
  • Experience with Batch, Bash, Python scripting is desired
  • Experience configuring and maintaining firewalls and endpoint security software is desired
  • Experience with campus card and/or point-of-sale hardware, as well as Transact system software is desired
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with people of all technical levels
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work effectively under time constraints and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities, and work collaboratively as a member of a diverse community
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reporting to the assistant director of endpoint administration, this position closely interacts with ITS colleagues and teams, in addition to frequent contact with faculty, staff, and students across the campus to achieve successful technology outcomes.
