There are 2 positions that will be filled at the Electrical Engineer I, II, III, Senior I, Senior II or Principal level contingent upon the selected candidate's experience and education.
JOB PURPOSE Electrical Engineer I: Performs basic entry level analysis, design and construction of electrical power and communication systems and assists with project management activities related to the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of hydroelectric generation plants and related facilities such as switchyards, substations, etc. The position requires entry-level knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures, including materials, equipment, and techniques, used in professional level work in the field of electrical engineering and project management. The position works under close or continuing supervision and requires limited exercise of judgment when developing designs and design criteria, determining methodology and developing alternatives.
JOB PURPOSE Electrical Engineer II: Performs fundamental engineering calculations, analysis, design and construction support of low complexity electrical power and communication systems and may assist with project management activities related to the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of hydroelectric generation plants and related facilities such as switchyards, substations, etc. Plans, scopes, schedules, and conducts engineering work with technical guidance and oversight from supervisor or higher-level engineers.

Plan, scope, schedule and conduct engineering work requiring independent judgment for a variety of projects and facilities such as hydroelectric plants, switchyards and substations. May act as the design engineer and/or the project manager for on moderately complex, lower risk projects. Interacts with engineering consultants, crew superintendents, foreman and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve problems during design, construction, or installation.

- 15% Project Management - Develop and assist with implementation of scopes, schedules and budgets for basic projects or less complex portions of more difficult projects. Oversee and monitor project activities from concept to close out. Communicate project progress to internal clients, supervision, and management. Write status and tracking reports. Give presentations including project recommendations to teams, management groups and the Commission. Procure materials. Participate in the selection of consultants and assist with management of consultant contracts. Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures to maintain the quality of project deliverables.

Post-Secondary Education Electrical Engineer I, II, III: Bachelor's degree (B. S., B. A.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience. EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineer in Training) achieved by passing the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam, preferred.
Post-Secondary Education Senior I, II: Bachelor's degree (B.S., B.A.) in Engineering; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. PE in the State of Washington strongly preferred.
Post-Secondary Education Principal: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Engineering; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. PE in the State of WA required. Continuing education or advanced learning in two or more specialty engineering areas strongly preferred.
Experience Electrical Engineer I: Entry Level. No experience required. Candidates with experience in a hydro generation and/or with an electric utility are preferred.
Experience Electrical Engineer II: Requires a minimum of two (2) years' experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of basic electrical engineering in the form of reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings; participation in data collection and field research or inspections.
Experience Electrical Engineer III: Requires a minimum of four (4) years experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of fundamental electrical engineering in the form of reports, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; development of design alternatives.
Experience Senior I: Requires a minimum of six (6) years' experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of engineering in the form of reports, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; knowledge of construction turnover/testing and commissioning; and proper identification of appropriate codes and standards for a wide variety of situations.
Experience Senior II: Requires a minimum of eight (8) years' experience performing electrical engineering related to power generation plants of increasing complexity. Experience must include examples of successful application of complex engineering in the form of reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings; knowledge of construction means and methods including cost and schedule estimates; knowledge of construction turnover/testing and commissioning.
Experience Principal: Requires a minimum of twelve (12) years progressively responsible experience performing electrical engineering in a hydro generating plant of increasing complexity. Experience must include application of engineering design in two or more designated engineering specialty areas; examples of providing technical guidance in complex situations where there is limited or no standardization; and examples of successful mentoring.

A valid driver's license is required for this position (verified upon hire). A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment.

In addition to a competitive starting salary range of $67,360-$84,200 (I) $77,360-$96,700 (II) $84,960-$106,200 (III) $93,440-$116,800 (Senior I) $102,320-$127,900 (Senior II) $121,840-$152,300 (Principal) (based on qualifications, skills and abilities), Chelan PUD employees also enjoy outstanding benefits which include the option of a zero cost medical plan (medical, dental and vision for all eligible dependents), short and long-term disability, Washington State Public Employee's Retirement System, Deferred Compensation (with company matching funds up to 5%), 11 holidays and initial personal leave accrual at 21 days per year.
