Director
The Director position requires a senior level Tenured/Tenure Track faculty who holds an MSW and a PhD in Social Work or related field. The Director is responsible for overseeing the implementation, administration, and advancement of the center's vision, mission, and goals. Applicants must have a demonstrated body of scholarship and research along with substantial expertise within the broad and diverse area of violence and crime in urban locales. The Director must understand and value the important role of Interdisciplinary sciences, theories, and intervention strategies along with the complex health, education, socioeconomic and the well-known structural disparities that exist in communities of color.

- An established scholar who has a publication and track record of interdisciplinary and Applied Research, program development and management.
- An innovative leader who embraces innovations and cross-cutting research in crime and violence prevention and reduction;
- An experienced leader who understands that crime and violence are multifaceted and must be understood from a comprehensive perspective;
- An experienced leader who has a track record in working with and alongside diverse community members and leaders, non-profit organizations, business leaders, foundations, and various government agencies, to include local, state, and federal;
- A leader who has passion, excitement, zeal, enthusiasm, and an ability to motivate and expand students, faculty and staff interest in research, advanced education. and program leadership;
- A leader who has a track record in raising funds, obtaining grants and contracts for various scientific and programmatic topics, to include sponsorship from other academic institutions, philanthropic sources, the private and government sectors.
DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS SELECTED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep Dean and Advisory Boards fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors/issues influencing it;
- Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations, and the public;
- Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs, and goals; and
- Work independently and make decisions for day to day operations of the Center.
- Be responsible for hiring staff, retention, training, and release of all personnel;
- Develop job descriptions and conduct annual performance evaluations;
- Maintains a workplace environment that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff and top-credentialed social scientists and program managers.
