Code Enforcement Officer, Part-time Allegany County Department of Planning & Zoning
SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring compliance with the following County regulations: junk, unsafe structures, zoning, and livability; and for coordinating work with various County and State offices and agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent and ten (10) years experience in the field of law enforcement. (A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain and maintain a Maryland Special Police Commission and a wear and carry handgun permit; and to pass a physical examination required for this position. Possession of a valid driver's license and eligibility for coverage under the County’s motor vehicle insurance policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of all aspects of the law enforcement processes (investigation, preparation of notice for compliance, collection of evidence, search and seizure, issuance of citations, and court appearences). Ability to communicate with people face to face, and remain calm in difficult situations. Working knowledge of the County’s Land Use Regulations. SALARY AND BENEFITS: This is a part-time, contractual position with a hourly pay range of $15.63 to $29.70. Part-time employees are eligible for limited benefits.
